R.T. Both teaches an introductory non-fiction creative writing class at Columbia College of Chicago's Division of Continuing Education. In the introductory class we work on discovering our voice, learning to write scenes, description and exposition, and mining our lives for subject matter. Our class has always been characterized by a high degree of collegiality and kindness. We operate on the basis that feedback doesn't need to be cruel to be effective. Students who've taken the introductory class are eligible for Part 2. Marty Lennartz and Ryan Herzog have been students in R.T. Both's advanced writing class, where we're working on creating interesting narratives. One of the purposes of this site is to create an outlet for that narrative-producing urge.
